The Center for Emerging Contaminants Research & Institute of Environmental Engineering, National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) in Kaohsiung City of Taiwan cordially invite you to participate in The 1st International Conference on Emerging Contaminants (also known as “emcon forum 2013”).  “emcon forum 2013” is to be held on NSYSU campus, October 13-15, 2013.  NSYSU has a beach, mountain, and tunnel on campus.  It is the most beautiful campus in Taiwan.

 

To date, the general public is becoming aware of what “Emerging Contaminants” (ECs; also known as “contaminants of emerging concern”) are and their potential risk to human health, the environment, and ecosystems.  However, further understanding of occurrence, fate, transport, transformation, toxicology, mitigation, and control of ECs is of much significance and importance.  “emcon forum 2013” would present an excellent opportunity and platform for academia, researchers, and experts worldwide interested in all aspects of emerging contaminants (including nanoscale contaminants) to share the latest scientific & engineering advancements and exchange their control & management strategy.  In addition to regular platform and poster presentations, there will be a plenary speech and three keynote speeches delivered by world renowned experts from continents of Europe, America, and Asia.

 

In summary, your participation in “emcon forum 2013” sure will make this conference a success.  You will also feel the warmness and hospitality from people in KaohsiungKaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan having an airport and harbor very close to the city center.  More than one wetland parks and tens of kilometers of bicycle track are available in the city center.  More details about Kaohsiung City can be found at http://www.kcg.gov.tw/EN/Index.aspx.  Besides, several national parks in Taiwan are either in or near the City of Kaohsiung.  For example, many scenes in a recent movie “Life of Pi” can be easily reached from Kaohsiung.  In addition to see the natural environment, you also will be able to experience the extraordinary art and culture here.  Welcome to Kaohsiung!
