Brief biography for Professor Hung-Wen Chang
Hung-Wen Chang, was born on July 18, 1956, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Republic of China. He received BS degree in EE from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1978 and MS and Ph.D degrees in EE from the University of Washington in 1981 and 1986 respectively.
In June 1986, he joined the Ultrasonic department of Schlumberger-Doll Research, Ridgefield, CT as a research scientist where he conducted research on finite-difference time-domain technique for simulating transducer pulse-echo responses. He also worked on wave propagation and scattering in a finely layered elastic medium and seismic wave forward modeling. In April 1993 he joined Institute of Electro-optical engineering, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan and became an associated professor. He is a member of IEEE. His current research interests include wave propagation in dielectric waveguides, computational PLC (planar light wave circuit), and acoustics.
